Aleksey Savrasov

Aleksey Savrasov was a prominent Russian landscape painter known for his poetic and emotional representations of nature. Born in 1830 in Moscow, he studied at the Moscow School of Painting and Sculpture and later became a member of the Peredvizhniki (Wanderers) movement, a group of artists who sought to break away from traditional academic painting and create art that reflected the realities of life in Russia. Savrasov's paintings often depict the changing seasons and the beauty of the Russian countryside, with a focus on light and atmosphere. He is particularly noted for his skillful use of color, which evokes a sense of mood and emotion in his works. Savrasov's legacy continues to influence Russian landscape painting to this day. He died in poverty in 1897, but his works are now considered some of the finest examples of 19th-century Russian art.
