Annibale Carracci

Annibale Carracci (1560-1609) was an Italian Baroque painter and one of the founders of the Carracci Academy in Bologna, which aimed to reform painting by combining elements of classical and Renaissance art with a new naturalism. Carracci's early works were influenced by the Mannerist style of his uncle, Lodovico, but he later developed a more naturalistic approach, focusing on the study of nature and human emotion. His works often depicted religious or mythological subjects, with a focus on dramatic gestures and expressive faces. Among his most famous works are "The Flight into Egypt" and "The Assumption of the Virgin." Carracci's style had a significant impact on the development of Baroque painting in Italy and throughout Europe.
