Ansel Adams was an American photographer and environmentalist, best known for his stunning black and white photographs of the American West. Born in San Francisco in 1902, Adams first discovered photography as a teenager and went on to become one of the most important and influential photographers of the 20th century.Adams was a pioneer of the "zone system," a method of controlling the exposure and development of film to achieve a specific tonal range in the final print. He also advocated for the use of photography as a means of promoting conservation and environmental awareness.Adams' photographs of the Yosemite Valley and other iconic natural landscapes are some of the most recognizable images in American art. He received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, and his work continues to inspire and influence photographers and artists around the world.
