Claude Lorrain

Claude Lorrain, also known as Claude Gellée, was a French painter of the Baroque era who is best known for his landscapes. Born in the Duchy of Lorraine in 1600, Lorrain spent much of his life in Italy, where he studied the works of the great Renaissance masters. He became famous for his idyllic, pastoral landscapes, which were often suffused with a warm, golden light. Lorrain's work had a profound influence on the development of landscape painting, particularly in the 18th century.
