Fra Angelico, also known as Beato Angelico, was an Italian painter of the Early Renaissance period. He was born around 1395 in the Tuscan town of Vicchio and became a Dominican friar in his early adulthood. He spent most of his life in Florence, where he was commissioned by wealthy patrons to paint altarpieces and frescoes in churches and convents.Fra Angelico's paintings were characterized by their vivid colors, delicate brushwork, and religious subject matter. He was particularly skilled in depicting angels and other ethereal beings, and his art was widely admired for its spiritual beauty.His most famous works include the frescoes in the San Marco convent in Florence, which depict scenes from the lives of Christ and the Virgin Mary. Fra Angelico died in Rome in 1455 and was beatified by the Catholic Church in 1982.
