Horace Vernet

Horace Vernet (1789-1863) was a French painter of the Romantic period, known for his depictions of military and historical scenes. Born into a family of artists, he studied under his father before attending the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He exhibited at the Paris Salon for the first time at the age of 19 and went on to win numerous awards and honors throughout his career.Vernet's paintings often depicted dramatic moments from history, such as battles and military campaigns, and he was known for his ability to capture movement and action in his works. He was a favorite of the French monarchy and completed several official portraits of the royal family.In addition to his historical works, Vernet also painted landscapes and genre scenes.
