Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter and art theorist, known as one of the pioneers of abstract art. Born in Moscow in 1866, he studied law and economics before turning to art. In 1896, he moved to Munich to study art, and became associated with the Blue Rider group, which included other notable artists like Franz Marc and Paul Klee. Kandinsky's work underwent a radical transformation in the early 1910s, as he began to focus on non-representational art. He believed that color and form should be used to express emotions and ideas, and his paintings from this period are characterized by bold colors, dynamic shapes, and a sense of movement. Kandinsky also wrote extensively on art theory, and his book "Concerning the Spiritual in Art" is considered a seminal text on abstract art.Kandinsky continued to produce innovative and influential art throughout his career, and his work remains highly regarded today. He died in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France in 1944.
