Collection: Albert Joseph Moore

Albert Joseph Moore (1841-1893) was an English painter associated with the Aesthetic Movement. He was born into an artistic family and began his career as an apprentice to his father and later studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. His paintings were inspired by classical mythology and often depicted ethereal and languid figures draped in flowing robes, set against simple, decorative backgrounds. Moore's style was characterized by his use of flattened forms and decorative patterns, and his emphasis on beauty and sensuality. His works were highly popular and were exhibited at major venues such as the Royal Academy and the Paris Salon. Despite his success, Moore struggled with depression and alcoholism and died at the age of 52. His legacy continues to inspire artists today.
