Aleksandra Ekster

Aleksandra time. Throughout (1882-1949) was a Russian-French painter and designer associated with the avant-garde movements of Cubism and Futurism. She was born in Białystok, Poland, but grew up in Kiev, Ukraine, where she studied at the Kiev Art School and later at the Académie Julian in Paris.Ekster's early work was heavily influenced by Cubism, and she became known for her bold use of color and geometric forms. She was also involved in the development of the Ukrainian avant-garde movement and was a founding member of the Kiev Art Institute in 1918.In the 1920s, Ekster became interested in the ideas of the Futurist movement, and began creating works that incorporated elements of technology and modernity. She also worked as a set and costume designer for ballets and operas, and her designs were considered groundbreaking at the time. Throughout her career, Ekster's work remained innovative and experimental, and she continued to be a major figure in the development of the avant-garde movement in Europe.
