Anne Vallayer-Coster (1744-1818) was a French painter known for her still-life paintings and portraits. She was born in Paris to a family of artists and received training from her father and other notable artists of the time.Vallayer-Coster's still-life paintings were highly prized for their meticulous attention to detail and lifelike depictions of flowers, fruits, and other objects. She was also skilled in portraiture, and her portraits of members of the French royal family and other notable figures were highly sought after.In 1770, she was admitted to the prestigious Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture, and in 1780, she was appointed as a court painter to Queen Marie Antoinette. Despite the turmoil of the French Revolution, Vallayer-Coster continued to paint and exhibit her work until her death in 1818. Today, her paintings can be found in museums and private collections around the world.
