Collection: Antonio Canova

Antonio Canova (1757-1822) was an Italian sculptor and one of the most celebrated artists of the Neoclassical style. Born in Possagno, Italy, he trained in Venice before moving to Rome, where he became a sought-after sculptor among the city's aristocracy. Canova's works were known for their idealized forms and classical subject matter, which reflected the artist's interest in the ancient world. Some of his most famous works include "The Three Graces," "Cupid and Psyche," and "Perseus with the Head of Medusa." Canova's work was highly influential in the art world and was admired by many of his contemporaries, including Napoleon Bonaparte. Today, his sculptures can be found in museums and galleries around the world, including the Louvre and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
