Benozzo Gozzoli (c. 1421 – 1497) was an Italian Renaissance painter from Florence, known for his frescoes in religious and secular buildings. He trained under Fra Angelico, and his early works reflect his master's style. However, Gozzoli soon developed his own distinctive style, characterized by his love for color and intricate detail. Gozzoli is best known for his frescoes in the Medici Palace in Florence, which depict the procession of the Magi. The frescoes are a stunning example of his skill in creating vivid and lively scenes, filled with numerous characters and details. Gozzoli's other notable works include frescoes in the Campo Santo in Pisa, and the Church of Sant'Agostino in San Gimignano.Gozzoli's art was highly esteemed during his lifetime and influenced other artists of his time. His frescoes remain some of the most beautiful and significant works of the early Renaissance.
