Collection: Camille Pissarro

Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) was a Danish-French painter considered one of the leading figures of the Impressionist movement. Born in St. Thomas, Pissarro spent most of his career in France, where he became associated with other Impressionist painters such as Monet and Cezanne. Pissarro's early works were influenced by Corot and Courbet, but he later developed a unique style characterized by its bright colors and loose brushwork. He was known for his landscapes, particularly scenes of rural life, and his interest in capturing the effects of light and atmosphere on nature.Despite facing financial struggles throughout his career, Pissarro remained dedicated to his art and continued to paint until his death in 1903. Today, his works are considered some of the most important examples of Impressionist art and can be found in museums and private collections around the world.
