Collection: Childe Hassam

Childe Hassam was an American Impressionist painter who was born in 1859 in Boston. He studied art in Boston and then moved to Paris to further his education. In Paris, he was inspired by the Impressionist movement and the works of artists such as Monet and Pissarro. He returned to the United States and became a prominent figure in the American Impressionist movement, focusing on urban landscapes and street scenes. Hassam’s use of light and color created a sense of movement and vitality in his paintings. He was a member of The Ten, a group of American Impressionist artists, and was instrumental in promoting Impressionism in the United States. Hassam continued to paint and exhibit his works until his death in 1935.
