Edmund Blair Leighton

Edmund Blair Leighton (1853-1922) was an English painter associated with the Pre-Raphaelite movement. Born in London, Leighton studied at the Royal Academy and later became a member of the Academy. He primarily painted scenes from medieval and Renaissance periods, with an emphasis on historical accuracy and romanticism. Leighton's paintings often featured elegantly dressed women in idealized settings, and he was known for his attention to detail and use of light and shadow. His most famous works include "The Accolade," "God Speed," and "The Shadow." Leighton's style fell out of fashion towards the end of his life, but his works have since become highly sought after by collectors and continue to inspire artists today.
