Collection: Edwin Lord Weeks

Edwin Lord Weeks was an American artist born in Boston in 1849. He began his artistic career in New York City, studying with famous artists such as William Morris Hunt and Jules Lefebvre. Weeks specialized in Orientalist paintings and was known for his highly detailed and realistic depictions of Indian and Middle Eastern landscapes, architecture, and people. He traveled extensively throughout India, Egypt, and Morocco, documenting his experiences through sketches and photographs that he used as reference for his paintings. Weeks' paintings often depicted scenes of daily life in these regions, as well as historical and mythological subjects. His works were widely exhibited during his lifetime and are now held in collections around the world. Weeks died in Paris in 1903 at the age of 54.
