Collection: Emile Munier

Emile Munier (1840-1895) was a French artist known for his exquisite paintings of children and young girls. Born in Paris, Munier studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts under the famous painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau. His works, often depicting scenes of everyday life, were highly sought after by collectors during his lifetime. Munier's paintings are characterized by their delicate brushwork, soft color palette, and romanticized subject matter. He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon, winning numerous awards and medals throughout his career. Munier's popularity extended beyond France, with his works being widely reproduced and admired in the United States and England. Despite his success, Munier was known to be modest and private, preferring to let his art speak for itself. Today, his paintings can be found in collections worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
