Collection: Eva Gonzales

Eva Gonzalès was a French Impressionist painter born in Paris in 1849. She was a student of Edouard Manet and became one of the few women artists associated with the Impressionist movement. Gonzalès initially painted portraits and genre scenes, but she is best known for her intimate and atmospheric depictions of women engaged in everyday activities, often set in domestic interiors.Gonzalès exhibited her works at the Paris Salon and the Impressionist exhibitions, where her work was praised by critics. Despite her talent and success, Gonzalès’ career was cut short when she died in childbirth at the age of 34. Nevertheless, her legacy as a pioneering woman artist of the Impressionist movement has endured, and her works can be found in museums and private collections around the world.
