Collection: Fede Galizia

Fede Galizia (1578-1630) was an Italian Baroque painter, known for her still-life paintings. She was born into a family of artists in Milan and showed an early talent for painting. Her father, Nunzio Galizia, was her first teacher and her brother, also a painter, became her assistant. Her still-life paintings, which often included fruits, flowers, and insects, were highly sought after by collectors and patrons of the arts. She also painted portraits and religious subjects, but it was her still-lifes that brought her the most acclaim. Fede Galizia was one of the few female artists of her time to achieve recognition and success in the male-dominated art world of the 16th and 17th centuries. Her work is characterized by its attention to detail, use of vibrant colors, and meticulous brushwork.
