Collection: Guilherme de Santa Rita

Guilherme de Santa-Rita was a Brazilian painter and sculptor born in 1882 in Rio de Janeiro. He studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro and later in Paris, where he was influenced by the Impressionists and the Art Nouveau movement. His works often featured Afro-Brazilian themes and were characterized by vivid colors and bold forms. He was a member of the Group of Five, a group of Brazilian artists who sought to break away from traditional academic painting styles and embrace modernism. Santa-Rita’s works can be found in several Brazilian museums, including the National Museum of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro and the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo. He passed away in 1918 at the young age of 36.
