Collection: Jacob Jordaens

Jacob Jordaens (1593-1678) was a Flemish Baroque painter known for his colorful and lively scenes that often depicted historical, mythological, and religious subjects. Born in Antwerp, Jordaens studied under Peter Paul Rubens and quickly gained recognition for his talent as a painter. He became a prominent member of the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke and received many commissions from the Catholic Church and other prominent patrons throughout his career. Jordaens' works are characterized by their bold, vibrant colors and dynamic compositions that often feature groups of figures engaged in lively activities. He is considered one of the leading painters of the Flemish Baroque period, alongside Rubens and Anthony van Dyck.
