Collection: John LaFarge

John LaFarge (1835-1910) was an American painter, stained glass window designer, and writer. LaFarge's works were characterized by their use of vivid, intense colors and their exploration of light and shadow. LaFarge was particularly interested in the use of color and his paintings often had a luminous, almost ethereal quality to them. LaFarge was a prominent figure in the American Aesthetic Movement, a group of artists who sought to elevate the decorative arts to the level of fine art. LaFarge was also a pioneer in the field of stained glass design and his works can be seen in churches, museums, and public buildings throughout the United States. Today, LaFarge's works are celebrated for their beauty and their contribution to the development of American art. Some of his most famous works include "The Great Statue of Amida Buddha at Kamakura" and "The Angel of Help."
