Collection: Leon Bazile Perrault

Léon Bazile Perrault (1832-1908) was a French academic painter known for his historical and genre scenes. He studied under the renowned academic painter William Bouguereau and often worked in a similar neoclassical style. Perrault exhibited at the Paris Salon and won multiple awards and honors throughout his career, including the Legion of Honour and membership in the Académie des Beaux-Arts. He was also a member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and served as its president from 1893 to 1903. Perrault’s paintings were widely popular and often reproduced as prints, which helped spread his fame beyond France. His works can be found in museums and private collections around the world. Today, Perrault is remembered as one of the leading academic painters of his time.
