Collection: Lyubov Popova

Lyubov Popova (1889-1924) was a Russian avant-garde artist and designer, best known for her pioneering work in the Constructivist movement. Born into a wealthy family in Moscow, Popova was trained in art and design at the prestigious Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. After graduating in 1910, she joined the artistic collective Jack of Diamonds, which was influenced by Cubism and Futurism. Popova's work evolved over the years, moving away from the decorative and towards abstraction. She experimented with various forms, including painting, sculpture, and design, and became a leading figure in the Constructivist movement, which aimed to create art that was functional, rather than purely aesthetic. Popova's life and work were cut short by her untimely death from scarlet fever in 1924, but her legacy continues to inspire contemporary artists and designers around the world.
