Collection: Peder Severin Kroyer

Peder Severin Kroyer was a Danish painter known for his light-filled, atmospheric landscapes and beach scenes. Born in 1851 in Stavanger, Norway, Kroyer studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and later in Paris. He became associated with the Skagen Painters, a group of artists who were drawn to the picturesque fishing village of Skagen in Denmark. Kroyer's paintings capture the unique light and colors of Skagen, often depicting the fishermen and their families, as well as his artist friends. Kroyer was an important figure in Danish art, and his work helped to establish the country's national identity. He died in 1909 in Skagen, where he spent many of his later years. Today, his paintings can be found in museums and private collections around the world.
